The Independence Day pledging to establish a non-communal prosperous and developed Bangladesh with the spirit of Liberation War was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district with much enthusiasm on Saturday
The Independence Day began with heralding of a 31-gun salute at dawn on the Bangabandhu Chattar premises., Freedom Fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP, Upazila Chairman Mofazzal Hossain khan, Hasan Maruf ,UNO of Gouripur Upazila , Mayor Syed Rafiqul Islam as well as councilors of Gouripur Pourashava and other officials of the upazila administration and the police department placed floral wreaths on the monument Bijoy-71 at Bangabandhu Chattar of the upazila town.
People from all walks of life and activists of political, cultural and professional organisations, institutions and. clubs, such as Gouripur Pourashava, Gouripur Thana, Gouripur Press Club, Bangladesh Press Club-Gouripur unit, Gouripur Reporters’ Club, Gouripur Govt. College, Gouripur Women College, Govt. Technical School and College, Gouripur R.K.Govt. High school, Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Nurul Amin Khan High School, Chader Hat Agradut Niketon, Govt.Textile Vocational Institute also placed floral wreaths at the monument Bijoy-71 and paid homage to the war heroes.
In the morning , colourful rallies were brought out by different organizations which paraded through the main roads of the town and joined Gouripur playground. Upazila Administration organized a colorful march-past at Gouripur Stadium with participation of police, ansar-VDP, scouts, girls guide, school, college and madrasa students and members of different clubs, and cultural organizations.
Freedom Fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP was a chief guest there and hoisted the national flag to mark the day. Upazila Chairman Mofazzal Hossain khan, Hasan Maruf, UNO of Gouripur Upazila, Khan Abdul Halim Siddiki Oc of Gouripur Thana were present as special guests. Besides, in the day long, the government and non-government, political and socio-cultural organisations had drawn up elaborate programmes.
Saidpur (Nilphamari) Correspondent reports: The great Independence and National Day was observed in Saidpur Upazila in Nilphamari with due dignity and solemnity in various events. On the occasion of the celebration of the day, various programs were carried out throughout the day on the initiative of the Upazila Administration.
 National flag was officially hoisted at the local Sheikh Russel Mini Stadium at 8.30 AM. Later, a Parade and Display was held by Police, Ansar-VDP, BNCC, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Scouts of various educational institutions including schools, colleges, madrasas, Rover Scouts, Girl Guides, Kabdals and children’s organizations and others.. Earlier, the great Independence and National Day was inaugurated by flying Balloons and Pigeons. Member of Parliament for the reserved women’s seat, Rabia Alim, Saidpur Upazila Chairman Md. Mokhchedul Momin and Upazila Nirbahi Officer. Shamim Hussain delivered their speech on the occasion.
Heroic freedom fighters, officials of all departments of Upazila Administration, Politicians, People’s Representatives and Heads of Educational Institutions,Teachers and others were present in programs.
Baraigram (Natore) Correspondent says: The Independence and National Day has been celebrated in all educational institutions of the upazila including the upazila administration through various programs with due dignity in Baraigram of Natore.
Students’ parade and display exhibition was held at Bonpara Model High School ground on Saturday at the initiative of Upazila administration. Former state minister Prof Abdul Quddus MP was present as the chief guest at the function presided over by UNO Mst. Maryam Khatun. Upazila Chairman Dr.Siddiqur Rahman Patwari, Additional Superintendent of Police (Baraigram Circle) Sharif Al Rajib, Bonpara Municipal Mayor KM Zakir Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kazi Nahid Eva, Officer-in-Charge of Baraigram Police Station Abu Siddique and others were the special guest. At the end of the ceremony, prizes were distributed among the winners in a parade and display exhibition. On the day, a reception was given to the heroic freedom fighters and family members of the martyred freedom fighters under the chairmanship of UNO Mariam Khatun at the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
