Chittagong Bureau :
The nation recently celebrated the 46th victory day of Bangladesh in Chittagong as elsewhere in the country in a befitting manner. Chittagong is earmarked as commercial capital of the country and the role of Chittagong in the war of liberation is praiseworthy . But it is a matter great shame that in the second biggest city of the country, this commercial capital lacks of any Independence Mausoleum as yet. In every occasion of any national celebrations, every one goes to Shahid Minar so built in memory of Language Movement.
Now it is the demands of the hour to have a eye catching Independence Mausoleum immediately. This was expressed by the leaders of the Chittagong Reporters Unity while calls on Deputy commissioner of Chittagong Md. Zillur Rahman chowdhury at his official conference room recently. In the courtesy call with DC , a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister handed over to the DC for taking pragmactic steps to build a Independence Memorial in the port city immediately. During the meet with DC , President of CRU Kiron Sharma, Senior vice president Md. Nazrul Islam, General Secretary Humayun Kabir,Finance Secretary Nurul Kabir, and other office bearers of the Executive Committee were present.
