The Independence Day Tennis Competition begins tomorrow at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna.
Bangladesh Tennis Federation will arrange the tennis competition under auspices of Swiss Quality Paper.
Regarding the tennis competition, a press conference was held at the conference room of National Tennis Complex in Ramna on Saturday. Vice-President of Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF) ASM Haidar disclosed all the matters related to the tennis meet. Vice-President of BVF Mohammad Al Din, Deputy General Manager of Swiss Quality Paper AFM Zahirul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder will inaugurate the tennis competition as the chief guest.
Around two hundred tennis players from 19 teams will compete in the tennis tournament. The teams, which will participate in the tennis tournament are: BKSP, Rajshahi Zafar Imam Tennis Complex, Naogaon Tennis Club, Narsingdi Tennis Club, Jhalokathi Tennis Club, Madaripur Tennis Club, Dhaka Engineers Recreation Centre, Dhaka Club Limited, Uttara Club Limited, Gulshan Club Limited, Dhaka Officers Club, Gulshan Youth Club, British High Commission Club, Navy Club, American Club, Brahmanbaria District Sports Association, Bangladesh Ansar & VDP Club, Nordik Club and International Club.
The events of the competition are: Men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, boys’ singles, girls’ singles.
Alamgir Hossain is the top seed of the men’s division, while Afrana Islam is top seed of the women’s division.
