 Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has celebrated the great Independence and National Day-2021 and the ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence’ on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Independence. The day-long program was inaugurated at 7.30 am by hoisting the national flag at the Shaheed Minar and laying a wreath by its Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rafiqul Alam. At the time of the Mujib Barsha implementation committee President Prof. Mr. Ranjit Kumar Sutradhar and the Registrar (Acting). Mohammad Nazrul Islam accompanied the VC. .Later, wreaths were by the Deans, Directors of various institutes, Heads of Departments, Director of Student Welfare and Hall Provosts, Teachers Association, Officers Association, Staff Association and Bangabandhu Parishad.
Then at 7.50 am a discussion meeting was organized in the TSC auditorium on the great Independence and National Day.
The chief guest was the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Rafiqul Alam. CUET National Day Celebration Committee President and Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Md. Rabiul Alam was the special guest.
 Vice Chancellor of CUET, Prof. DrRafiqul Alam as the chief guest said, “Every year we celebrate Independence Day but this time the atmosphere is different and there is a lot of significance.
Today we are celebrating the golden jubilee of independence. It is a matter of great pride and joy for the Bengali nation. Bangabandhu has given freedom to a backward and exploited people.
In the 50 years of independence, the people’s leader Sheikh Hasina has made Bangabandhu’s dream of building a golden Bengal a reality.
 Under her able and dynamic leadership, Bangladesh has established itself as a dignified state in the world today. So on this glorious day, let us swear that we will work together to build Bangladesh as a developed and prosperous country by 2041 ” At the end of the meeting, a 50-pound cake was cut to mark the 50th anniversary of independence.
Later, flowers were laid at the graves of the martyrs of CUET, a limited overs friendly cricket match between the Student Welfare Department XI vs Staff Welfare Committee XI was held at the Central Playground in the afternoon, composition competition and prize distribution and a grand fireworks display was held at Independence Square in the evening.
