Increasing budgetary allocation in education sector underscored

Speakers at a meeting here underscored the need for increasing budgetary allocation in the education sector to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”As education is the backbone of the nation and no nation can prosper without education, there is no alternative to emphasize on education as well as the education sector to push forward the nation towards desired development”, they said.
They made the observation while addressing a meeting on Education Financing at Circuit House hall room in the district town on Wednesday noon. Sinnomul Mahila Samity (SMS), one of the leading non-government organizations in the district, organized the meeting in cooperation with Education Out loud-ASA project of Campaign for Popular Education. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin addressed the meeting as the chief guest and district education officer Md. Enayet Hossain spoke as the special guest.
Presided over by executive director of SMS Md. Murshidur Rahman Khan and moderated by assistant director of the SMS ABM Masudunnabi Lipon, Nezarat deputy collector SM Foyeez Uddin, journalist Abu Jafar Sabu, educationist Zahurul Kaiyum, Sadar upazila secondary education officer SM Sayeed Hasan, Sadar upazila primary education officer Anzuman Ara Golenur, assistant director of district non formal education program Mehedi Akter addressed the meeting, among others.
Principal of Tulshighat Samsul Haque Degree College Enamul Haque Khan, principal of TTC engineer Abdur Rahim also spoke at the meeting among others. The speakers said it is not possible to ensure quality education and promote decent work and economic growth- side by side with attaining two goals of SDGs could not be possible without allocating sufficient budget for higher education to create skilled manpower.
They also stressed the need for finding the problematic sectors of education at the district level and to resolving those as early as possible considering the interest.
DC Abdul Matin called on ensuring quality education and more budgetary allocation in order to achieve SDGs.
