Staff Reporter :
Stressing on child-centred climate fund, speakers at a programme called upon national and international organizations to incorporate child-centred climate financing into their plans, actions and financing.
Over 63 percent children (1.20 crore) of our country are now at risk due to effects of climate change. Climate issue cannot be separated from total development.
They are affected most due to climate change, they said, citing a report of UNICEF. In the 2018-19 fiscal year, about Tk. 24, 000 crore has been allocated for dealing with climate change. But it was not clear how much of the amount will be used for the children, they added.
They remarked while addressing a national dialogue on climate financing on children at Conference Room of BRAC Centre Inn at Mohakhali in the capital recently.
Save the Children, Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) of BRAC University, Australian Aid and Community Participation and Development (CPD) jointly organized the event.
