Inclusive education for the physically challenged students and children with special needs could flourish their latent talents to turn them into worthy citizens of the country.
The opinion came yesterday at a ceremony arranged for distributing sub-stipends among the physically challenged students of ‘Alor Pathe Protibondhi School’ being run by Begum Rezia Jabbar Trust in Rangpur.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Priyosindhu Talukder attended the ceremony and distributed cheques for sub-stipends and gifts among the students with disabilities as the chief guest.
With Chairman of the school governing committee, AKM Abdur Rouf Manik in the chair, social worker Dr Yusuf Ahmed, valiant freedom fighter Akbar Hossain and women community leader Dilara Hossain Dulali addressed the function, among others.
The speakers said the teachers should have adequate skill to ensure inclusive education for students with special needs paying due attention to make them equally knowledgeable like the normal students.
Dr Yusuf Ahmed called for taking more steps to create more disabled-friendly environment by ensuring required facilities, inputs and machineries in the educational institutions for the disabled students and children with special needs.
Akbar Hossain suggested creating special facilities in educational institutions and arranging special training to the teachers so that the children with special needs could get the universal inclusive education like able children.
The chief guest urged all concerned government and non-government organisations, bodies and social workers for mainstreaming the disabled students in the society through ensuring their proper education and cares to turn them into worthy citizens.
