Chittagong Bureau :Due to inclement weather accompanied by incessant heavy downpour , the loading unloading in outer berth of Chittagong Port remained suspended for the last five days but the port activities in inner berths party functioning, port sources said.Sources said loading unloading totally stopped from Wednesday and and hampered handling actitivies from Monday in outer berth due to rough sea and heavy torrential rain since Sunday last. Executive Director of Water Transport cell Mahbub Rashid told the New Nation that due to rough weather in sea, no lighter vessel sailed from port channel for loading cargos from mother vessels in outer berth. He said no lighter vessel is yet rent out till writing this report due to suspension of unloading of cargos from outer vessels. Port sources said oceangoing vessels of 190 meters long and 9 meters wide wont anchor at inner berth and hence these types of vessels usually took berth in outer berth and the lighter vessels carry the cargos of large vessels from outer berth.
