Imtiaz stars of Doleshwar’s victory in Premier Cricket

A brilliant batting display by opener Imtiaz Hossain saw Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club to notch a four-wicket victory over Brothers Union Club in the second round match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Monday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Chasing a winning target of 247 runs set by Brothers Union, Doleshwar reached home in 48.3 overs with four wickets in hand.
Opener Imtiaz, who fell victim of nervous ninety, led Doleshwar towards the victory as he scored 99 runs off 143 balls hitting nine boundaries and two over boundaries. He received an ample support from his partner Abdul Mazid who contributed useful 45 runs.
Marshal Ayub (33) and India recruit Puneet Bisht (22) were the other notable scorers for Doleshwar.
M Saddam was the pick of Brothers Union’s bowler as he grabbed three wickets conceding 55 runs. He was well supported by Nahiduzzaman who took two wickets giving away 50 runs.
Imtiaz Hossaon of Doleshwar was name the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
Earlier, Brothers Union Club, rode on a strong opening stand, scored a competitive total of 246 for 9 from their stipulated 50 overs, after they were forced to bat first by Doleshwar.
The two openers, Junaid Siddique and Mizanur Rahman gave Brothers a solid start contributing 113 runs for the opening stand before Sharifullah broke the partnership stubborn partnership removing Mizanur.
Junaid was superb with bat as scored 87 runs off 115 balls laced with five boundaries and one over boundary during his 115-ball stay on the crease while Mizanur supported him with a brilliant knock of 56-runs off 80 balls that contained four boundaries.
Myshukur Rahaman (47) was the other notable contributor for the Gopibagh ‘outfit’.
Arafat Sunny caused the major damage as he grabbed four Brothers Union’s wickets conceding 45 runs. He was well supported by Enamul Haque (2) and Sharifullah who both claimed two wickets each giving away 45 and 47 runs respectively.
