Imported Rail cargos wheel are now being repaired in Saidpur Railway Workshop. The wheels which are getting damaged before the expiry period have been sent to the country’s largest Railway Workshop to avoid danger of accidents.
According to Railway sources, 120 Indian Rail Coaches were imported in June last year. The Coaches were made in the Kapoorathala Coach factory in the State of Punjab. During that time, a delegation team of the Bangladesh Railway visited the factory to observe the manufacture and production of the coaches. Only within two years of import, the wheels of the coaches have started to erode.
According to the same source, more than 50 coaches were imported from Indonesia’s PT Inca Coach Factory at the same time. Those coaches are better than the Indian coaches. The wheels of Indonesian coaches have not eroded till now sources said. On condition of anonymity, a railway official said that the quality of Indian coaches is not good. Not only the wheels the interior decorations (Fittings) of the l Coaches are not up to the mark. So these are getting damaged. This may cause a great loss to the Bangladesh Railway.
A source in the Railway Transport Department said there could be an accident if the wheel gets damage. As a result, these are being sent to Saidpur Railway Workshop for repair. The matter has also been reported to the expert team of India. According to a source in Indian expert team are examining the cause of the eroded coaches in Bangladesh.
 While talking to Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of the Western Railway, Mizanur Rahman said according to the warranty, those coaches have already crossed five lakh kilometers. So in that case erosion of the wheels is normal. The question of quality of coaches is also irrelevant.
Divisional Superintendent (DS) Mohammad Qudrat E Khuda confirmed about the repairing of 11 Indian coaches which have bought at the Saidpur Railway Workshop. He said that as per the daily work, those wheels are being repaired. The wheel of 11 coaches has already been repaired. He said the rest were kept under observation.
