Import-export thru’ Banapole halted

Import- Export trade between the two Bangladesh and India was halted through Benapole port on Monday Morning. Indian traders have suspended import -export trade through Benapole-Petrapole port protesting harassment of Indian truck drivers by BSF. As a result, thousands of trucks are stuck on both sides.
Specially, high perishable goods were damage in this time many traders have turned the trucks and taken the trucks to Bhomra port.
Import-Export trade between the two countries has closed on Sunday due to National Mourning Day.
Benapole Port Director Abdul Jalil said Indian businessmen told us, the Indian truck drivers were constantly harassment by BSF in front of Petrapole Port.
Members of BSF camp in Jayatpur area are being harassed in various ways long time.
Until the BSF harassment is not stopped, they will stop import- Export trade between the two countries.
However, despite the closure of import and export trade between the two countries, the activities of Benapole port are normal. Unloading-loading of goods continue at the port.
Benapole Custom House Commissioner Md. Azizur Rahman said, Import -Export trade between the two countries through Benapole port has been suspended since morning.
However, the work in the port is normal.
The unloading of goods from the port is continuing.
