IML students form human chain protesting session jam at CU

Students of Institute of Modern Language (IML) of Chittagong University (CU) demonstrated on the campus yesterday protesting severe session jam in the department.
Around 200 students formed a human chain and afterwards held a protest rally in front of the administration building. The students also chanted slogans against the university authorities.
The agitating students claimed that they are in huge session jam .The first batch of the department is under 24 months ,2nd batch under 18th months, 3rd batch under 13 months ,4th batch under 13 months and 5th batch under 6th months session jam. They also claimed that they are yet finish their master’s degree while students of the same batch have already completed graduation and joined in job.
Later on, the demonstrators brought out a procession on the campus. They also handed over a memorandum to the vice-chancellor of the university through CU proctor Ali AsgarChowdhury.
Some students, who requested not to be named, said their careers are in jeopardy and they would not be able to apply for government jobs anymore.
Refusing the allegation Director of the Institute Associate Professor Sabrina Islam sweety said that institute is under only 7-8 months session jam because of lacking teachers and class room but not under huge session jam. Institute will cover session jam very soon as four teachers have appointed for the institute recently.

CU VC Prof. Dr. IftekharUddinChowdury could not be contacted for his comment over phone .
However, The Institute has started its journey since 2013 with first batch students.
