BNP Chairperson’s Advisor and former President of the Supreme Court Bar Council Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossain said, the judgment will raise the image of the country’s judiciary.
“If the Parliament has power to impeach judges, none of the judges will hold trial of any case independently.
They will remain loyal to the government for the security of their jobs. That is why we have always opposed the move to entrust the judges’ impeachment power to the Parliament.”
Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, also an Advisor of BNP Chairperson and Senior Lawyer of the Supreme Court called the court’s decision `courageous’.
