Artist Iskindar Mirza has completed her BFA and MFA from Department of Oriental Art, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. He has already attended more than thirty group exhibitions. His first solo exhibition was held at Zainul Gallery in 2015.
Artist Iskindar Mirza has dedicated to create illusions of colours through his artworks. There is a kind of sorcerous enticement in artworks – he believes – when colours are present. Iskindar’s key paintings depict horses of the Old Dhaka, as well as buffaloes, blacksmith, women, flower, leaves, nature, and many traditional artifacts of Bangladesh.
Through the blending of assorted hues, the artist tries to create a synergy that evokes what he feels and he wants to feel: distant past, lost culture, or tenderness of the nature around him.
The people of Bangladesh, their livelihoods, their beasts of burden, the environment they live in, their lives’ somewhat harmonious placidity – all have multitude of colours in them that are both parti-coloured and illusive. Artist Iskindar Mirza has only tried to bring that congruity to light.
The inaugural ceremony of the 2nd solo painting exhibition titled Illusion of Colour by artist Iskindar Mirza is to be held at La Galerie of Alliance Francaise de Dhaka (AFD) in the city’s Dhanmondi area on April 13 at 6:00pm.
