UNB, Dhaka :
The government has decided to demolish all illegal structures, including bazaars, on both sides of roads and highways across the country to improve the traffic situation.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the cabinet committee on road safety held at the Secretariat on Wednesday with Communications Minister Obaidul Quader in the chair, said Communications Secretary MAN Siddique.
While briefing reporters after the meeting, Siddique said the meeting discussed elaborately the issues of the removal of illegal structures
and haat-bazaars and stopping the plying of illegal human-haulers on the roads and highways across the country.
He said, temporary bazaars will be dismantled first and then steps will be taken to pull down permanent bazaars on the roads and highways.
The secretary also said, two committees formed earlier to look into the two issues were also asked to play more effective roles.
