Illegal gas connections increase alarmingly in Ctg

With the advantage of new gas connections so begins recently, the illegal gas connections of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Ltd in Chittagong increases recently.
It is alleged that a number of unscrupulous gas contractors doing this illegal jobs. It is learnt that Petrobangla suspended gas connections to industrial and commercial enterprises in Chitagong from July 2009 whereas domestic connection s suspended from July 2010.
After 4 years, Prime Minister announced to start gas connections to domestic users in the port city from May 7 last. At the same time, opportunity given to all illegal gas users to legalise their gas connections by June 20 last. Following the announcement of restarting gas connections, a few unscrupulous gas contractors are giving illegal connections before the final permission from the authority.
KGDCL sources said gas connections implementing under 8 zone of city and its outskirts. According to sources of KGDCL , new connections given upto December last since fresh announcement of gas connection stand at 9779 .
 Out of this new connections, 4026 connections given only in December last. According to sources the total domestic connections stand at 50,698 upto December last. While contacted Managing Director of KGDCL Engr. Jamil Ahmed admitted about the allegations of illegal gas connections and said these allegations will be properly investigated and the persons involved with this illegal gas connections will be punished.
