IHT closed sine die following BCL factional clash

Authorities on Tuesday shut down the Institute of Health Technology (IHT) for an indefinite period following a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League over selling human skeleton.
The authorities have informed the matter through a notice after an emergency meeting of the academic council on Tuesday.
A notice in this regard was issued in the afternoon asking the students to vacate their dormitories by 8pm.
All classes and examinations of the university were suspended while the male and female dormitories have been announced to shut for indefinite period to avoid any untoward incident, said its Principal Farhana Haq.
Three students, also the followers of Wahiduzzaman, General Secretary of IHT Unit Chhatra League, had an altercation with Saiful Islam, a first year student and a supporter of BCL president over skeleton trading.
When they went to BCL president to settle down the dispute, both the groups got engaged in a clash there, leaving 11 leaders and activists of BCL injured.
Off the injured, the conditions of two have been stated critical, said Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station.
On information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control, he added.
Later, Wahiduzzaman filed a case against eight students while Sharifa Rani, mother of injured Nafiul Islam, filed another case with the police station.
