Praising the National Food Policy-2013 of Bangladesh, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) said the policy will help increase agricultural production, generate more employment opportunities, and improve the sustainability of natural resources.
“If implemented effectively, the National Agricultural Policy is expected to increase agricultural production, generate more employment opportunities, and improve the sustainability of natural resources,” said Washington based research institute in its “The 2013 Global Food Policy Report” released on Wednesday. In 2013, in a move to help make the country self-sufficient in food, Bangladesh launched a National Agricultural Policy with an aim to make the country’s agriculture more resilient and sustainable, IFPRI said, adding that this policy gives priority to increasing production of more nutritious food crops, including cereals.
