Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury yesterday said Bangladesh may follow the Malaysian electoral alliance of the opposition to brace the next parliamentary election.
“If Mahathir has been able at his 92 years age to unite a fragmented opposition to oust the corruption plugged government of Najib Razak from power, it should inspire the opposition parties in Bangladesh to similarly unite and fight the next election,” he said taking part at a book launching event at Jatiya Press Club yesterday.
Mahathir was the political enemy of Anwar Ibrahim whom he sent to jail in utter disgrace, but for greater interest of the Malaysian people he forged unity again with Anwar’s major opposition party
leaving his own party on a common cause to fight corruption.
In politics one should not be permanent enemy as friendship is not also always guaranteed, both Mahathir and Anwar proved it forging unity for greater national interest.
AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury said political leaders in Bangladesh may take lessons from Mahathir. He wondered why Malaysian example can’t be taken here as a way out from our corruption plugged rotten politics.
Badruddoza Chowdhury was speaking at the unveiling of the book titled “Bangladesher Chhatra Rajniti: Otit, Bartoman O Bhobisshyat” written by Nagarik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna..
He also spoke about the glorious history of student politics in Bangladesh adding that students proved their power by successfully waging the quota reform movement. It gives hope to the nation that students can still play their role to bring change to the system which does not serve the interest of the greater population.
