Putting emphasis on expanding ICT education, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Sunday said ICT would be one of the major foreign currency earning sectors for the country in the coming days.
“ICT is one of the major sectors for generating employment and expediting growth in the national economy.
Our people are very talented and hard working. Around 70 percent of the country’s youth force, including male and female, are grown enough to do work. ICT could play a very important role in utilizing these human resources,” he said. The Planning Minister was addressing a seminar titled ‘7th Five Year Plan: Accelerating growth, empowering citizens through ICT’ held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and ICT Division Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder also spoke on the occasion. Mentioning that around 90 percent of the country’s population use mobile phones while around 6 crore people internet, AHM Mustafa Kamal said it is a stunning achievement. The Planning Minister highlighted various steps and measures of the government for expediting the growth of the ICT sector and thus gearing up the pace of economic development.
