ICT frames 2 charges against 4 Moulvibazar war crimes accused

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Sunday framed two charges of crimes against humanity against four alleged Razakars from Moulvibazar.
“Justice Anwarul Haque, Chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-1, indicted the four and set July 4 for submitting opening statement by the prosecution,” said prosecutor Syed Haider Ali.
The four accused are Akmal Ali Talukder, Abdun Noor Talukder, Anis Miah and Mosabbir Miah. Of the four, only Talukder is in jail and was present before the court on Sunday during the indictment.
Of the charges, one was framed against them for allegedly carrying out genocide, in which 59 Hindus were gunned down, raping many women, looting houses and setting those on fire in village Panchgaon under Rajanagar Police Station in Moulvibazar.
The other charge was for abducting, torturing and subsequently killing Binod Chakraborty and Nikhil Ranjan Chakraborty of village Poschimbagh under
Rajnagar Police Station, looting and setting their houses on fire.
The tribunal on June 15, 2016, took the charges against the four into cognizance and hearing on indictment was held on January 12, 2017.
According to the prosecution, All the accused were members of local Razakar Bahini in 1971.
