Terming him a failed TV anchor, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 has censured Mahmudur Rahman Manna while letting off public health activist Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury and journalist Mahfuz Ullah of the contempt-of-court charge over a talkshow.
The talkshow, ‘Muktobaak’, was aired on September 18, 2013 by private satellite TV network Channel 24.
The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, came up
with the observations in its judgment delivered on June 12, now available with the UNB. The two other tribunal members were Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Anwarul Haque.
The judgment says: “The whole responsibility lies with anchor Mahmudur Rahman Manna, one of the opposite parties in the contempt case, as he organises or manages his programme, Muktobaak, but he failed to control the whole situation or he willingly overlooked the random criticism of participants on the subjudice matter.”
