ICT-1 adjourns hearing on Bagerhat Razakar trio case

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Thursday set April 6 for recording the depositions of defence witnesses (DWs) in the trial of Bagerhat Razakar trio Sheikh Sirajul Haque alias Siraj Master, Khan Akram Hossain, and Abdul Latif Talukder.
Yestersday was set for recording the depositions of DWs, but advocate Abul Hasan, state-appointed counsel for Siraj, pleaded for time, saying his witness suddenly fell sick and could not turn up at the court.
Allowing the plea of the defence, Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the three-member panel of ICT-1, adjourned the hearing till April 6.
A total of 32 prosecution witnesses (PWs), including the investigation officer, have testified against the trio, whereas the tribunal has allowed the defence to produce 4 witnesses to defend their case.
The ICT-1 on November 5, 2014, indicted the trio and framed seven charges against them for committing crimes against humanity in and around Bagerhat in 1971.
