Pakistan piled up a mammoth total of 189 for the loss of two wickets in the allotted 20 overs against minnows Namibia in their Group-2 match of the ICC T20 World Cup at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.
Pakistan made a good start with two openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam put on together 113 runs in the opening stand before Babar Azam was caught at the deep midwicket by Jan Frylinck off David Weise.
Babar Azam notched up a superb 70. His 49-ball innings had seven fours.
After Babar’s dismissal, Fakhar Zaman arrived at the crease but he could stay at the pitch for a short period as he (5) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Zane Green off Jan Frylinck when Pakistan’s total was 122 for the loss of two wickets.
After Fakhar’s departure, Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Hafeez added together 67 runs in the unbroken third wicket stand before Pakistan’s innings came to an end.
Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten with 79. He hit four sixes and eight fours in his 50-ball knock.
Mohammad Hafeez remained unbeaten with 32. His 16-ball innings had five fours.
David Weise and Jan Frylinck took one wicket each for 30 and 31 runs respectively.
