I wouldn’t swap club titles for the World Cup: Messi

FC Barcelona star Leo Messi has won everything it is possible to win at club level, but winning the World Cup with his country Argentina is something that has always eluded him.
However, in a TV interview to be broadcast on Saturday Messi says he would not change all the trophies he has won for his club for a moment of international glory.
Speaking in an interview with Argentinian network TyC sports, Messi admitted that he was disappointed at not winning the World Cup.
“I would have loved to have been World Champions, but I don’t think it would change anything of what I have had in my career to do so,” he admitted in a clip issued ahead of his interview.
Messi disappointed in the 2018 World Cup finals when he looked clearly exhausted and his last chance of winning the title will almost certainly be in Qatar 2022 when he will be 35 years old.
But he admitted that if Argentina don’t win in three years, he will have little choice other than accept it.
“That’s what I have got, what God gave me and it’s for a reason,” he said, although he remembered fondly helping Argentina to the Under-20 title in 2005.
“I couldn’t dream of all that would come afterwards, it has been much better than I could ever have imagined,” commented Messi.
