State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said he knows nothing about the arrest of an agent of Pakistan’s intelligence agency by Indian RAW members in Dhaka.
“I know nothing yet about it. I read it in the newspapers, I’m looking into the matter,” he said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.
Asked whether the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of India has the authority to arrest intelligence agent of another country from Bangladesh, Asaduzzaman said, “We’ve a prisoner exchange treaty with India but they’ve no authority to do this.” About the chargesheet pressed by the Rapid Action Battalion in connection with the Jubo League (JL) leader Riazul Haque Khan Milky killing case, the junior minister said it was realistic.
Responding to another question about bringing back home BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman, he said, “It fully depends on Tarique Rahman whether he would return or not. Legal action will be taken against him when he will return, but the government would not take any steps to bring him back.”
Replying to a question about the progress in investigation into Sagar-Runi murder case, the minister said as per the court order RAB is investigating the murder of journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case. “Right information will be known at the right time,” he added.
