Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a member of banned Islamic outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) from Kazir Dewri area in the port city on Thursday afternoon.
A team of elite force in a drive detained Md Amiruz Zaman Parvez (39) from a shop in the area, said Mimtanur Rahman, senior assistant director (media) of RAB-7.
The elite force members also recovered leaflets, books on jihad (religious uprisings), a laptop and a mobile phone from him. Earlier, a case was filed against him in Kotwali thana for his alleged involvement in the militancy.
