A court here yesterday sentenced one person to death for killing his wife at Joypurpara in the district town in 2000.
The court also fined him Taka one lakh.
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 SM Saiful Islam pronounced the verdict.
The convict is Bappi Miah, 22, resident of the same area.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that Bappi killed his pregnant wife Kohinur on June 15, 2000 as she had refused to bring money for him (as dowry) from her father’s house.
After the incident, the victim’s father Abul Hossain Fakir filed a case with Bogra Sadar thana against four persons.
Police after investigation submitted charge-sheet before the court against them.
