A mason allegedly killed his wife in Tulatali area under Bakalia thana in the port city early yesterday over a family dispute.
The victim was identified as Rokshana Akter,28, wife of mason Joynal Abedin who is a tenant of Ali Bhaban in Tulatali area, hailing from Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla district.
Rokshana was a mother of two children. Pranab Kumar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakalia Police Station, said the victim and her husband lodged quarrel over a family matter, and at one stage, Joynal killed Roksana cutting her throat and fled away.
Silver Hilsa flooded in ctg market amid price spiral of vegetables
Chattagram Bureau: The prohibition over catchng of Hilsa fish in Bay ended on October 28 last . The fishermen rushed to the sea immediate after end of prohibition . Following the fishing of Hilsa , the chattogram market flooded with the rupali Hilsa recently. Hilsa of different sizes are seen in the fish markets of the port city yesterday and witnessed size of 250 grams to 1 Kg . The abundant suply of Hilsa seen at Karnaphuli market and Kazir Dewri market in the city beside other kitchen markets. These Hilsa are being sold from Tk.400 to Tk.800 depending on size.
On the other hand, with the impact of winter, the winter based vegetables are abundantly seen in the kitchen markets and footpath venders .
Colliflower, cabbage, shim, radish, tomatoo are being sold at Tk.100 to 120 per kgs except the normal vegetables and green leaves. The prices of poultry chicken, local chicken, sonali chcken, beef , mutton, eggs remain steady . Shrimp, prompret and other sea fishes are sold with high prices due to prohibition of sea fishing for the last one month.
