Husband imprisoned for killing wife in C’nawabganj

One person has been sentenced to life- term rigorous imprisonment and has also been fined of Tk. 20,000 two years more in default for killing his wife in Chapainawabganj.
Chapainawabganj district and session judge Md. Enamul Bari gave the verdict this afternoon.
The convicted person has been identified as Monirul Islam, 37, son of Nazrul Islam of Chaitanyapur village under Dhainagar union Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district.
According to the prosecution story, Monirul had a quarrel with his wife Champa Begum, 30 on March 1, 2015 at night as he demanded dowry of Tk. 50,000. At one stage, Monirul killed her by winding her sari around her neck.
Next day Champa’s mother Anarkoli Begum filed a murder case with Shibganj thana accusing eight persons including Monirul.
Investigating officer of the case SI Nur Mohammad Sarker submitted charge sheet to the court against Monirul on April 17, 2011.
After hearing the witnesses, the court handed down the punishment.
