One Tarikul Islam Shaikh (35) of Battala-Munshipara area of Mongla Port town under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district was hacked to death by his first wife Hira Begum on Friday night, according to a delayed report received here.
It is learnt from the police and the locals that at the night a family quarrel was taken place between the husband Tarikul and his first wife Hira Begum and when it reached its climax the wife became furious and hacked his husband repeatedly with a sharp knife. As a result, the husband was fatally injured. On hearing his piteous cry some locals rushed to the spot, recovered him and admitted him to Mongla Upazila Health Complex for his treatment. But considering his precarious condition he was shifted to Gazi Medical College Hospital in Khulna where he was succumbed to his injuries in the following morning (at 10 am). The deceased was the son of one Gaffar Shaikh of the village Mithakhali under the same Upazila. After the incident Hira Begum and his son went into hide. In this connection a case was registered with the local PS.
