Celebrated writer Humayun Ahmed’s mother Asyesha Foyez died at a Dhaka hospital on Saturday. The 84-year old lady was suffering from various ailments for some time and was being treated at the Labaid Hospital. The hospital’s physician Md Imran said that Foyez, who was being treated at the Coronary Care Unit, was declared dead around 7.20am. She had been suffering from kidney malfunction and was admitted in a critical condition to the hospital on Sept 11. “There’s an infection in her kidney,” hospital doctor Prof Baren Chakraborty had told bdnews24.com. “She had a dialysis six months ago.” Ayesha Foyez is the mother of late writer Humayun Ahmed, noted author and teacher Prof Zafar Iqbal and cartoonist Ahsan Habib. She was born on Mar 23, 1930 at Barhatta’s Koitali village to Abul Hossain and Khairun Nesa. Her husband Foyezur Rahman was a police officer, who was martyred during the 1971 Liberation War.– bdnews24.com
