Human crisis of deportation of migrants

PRESIDENT-ELECT Donald Trump’s assertion in a CBS interview last Sunday that he would start deportation of 2 to 3 million undocumented immigrants as soon as he will take office has left terrible shock to the immigrant community in the USA mapping out how to survive. We are afraid that many Bangladeshi nationals may be in the line and our embassy in Washington should monitor the development and give assistance to anyone in need of such help.

People are in panic who made their way to the land of prosperity escaping from poverty and repressive regimes. But Trumps victory using white Americans’ hatred towards the migrants made their fate totally insecure again. His renewed pledge to deport all of America’s undocumented immigrants- not just ones with criminal backgrounds is making families nervous all over the world. Trumpism is now not only a threat to the immigrant communities in the USA but also to liberty and equal rights of all people and whatever liberal values that made America great.

We know that major US cities are now witnessing growing protest and violence calling for end to Trump’s anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim politics to keep the US multi-racial society at peace. Meanwhile attacks by unruly whites on minorities and bullying of women in Islamic headgears and immigrant children are spreading tension. Streets violence continues for the 6th consecutive day on Tuesday where people are also denouncing Trump’s anti-immigrants policy shouting ‘say it loud, say it clear migrants are welcome here’. America is great because it helps others. Driving out so many people will be a problem for America apart from creating tension with other countries.

We know that the deportation of hundreds and thousands of migrants will not be an easy task. But since Trump is determined to achieve his goal, his administration may use the highest level of cruelty to push the people back to their countries. American forefathers have left the door open to people from all over the world to make America home of their own and we believe the door should not be shut.

We do not say that there will not be restrictions on immigration. But for illegal immigrants who lived for years and helped the country’s economy for so long, it cannot be fair now to call them illegal immigrants liable to be forcibly deported.
