The residents of Halda River bank irrespective of caste and creed formed human chain at Madunaghat point under Hathazari upazila recently.
With plea for saving Halda river from pollution of industrial effluents. People irrespective of party affiliation from Hathazari and Raozan areas spontaneously joined the human chain.
Meanwhile Halda Rakkah committee and Bangladesh Paribeshbadi Andolan expressed gratitude to the Human chain.
The speakers in the human chain was told that memorandum to Deputy commissioner, Department of Environment will be given very shortly.
The speakers urged the industrial enterprises on both banks of the river to refrain from dumping industrial wastages in ihe river immediately otherwise gherao program against the concerned industrial units will be launched.
Among others, Prof. Dr. Manzurul Kibria of Ctg University’s Biology deptt , convenor of Sacheton Nagarik Samaj Aminul Islam, Joint secretary of Press club Chowdhury Farid spoke on the occasion. Besides, chairmen of respective unions of Hathazari and Raozan upazila, UP members ,journalist, local elites participated the human chain, Urkirchar UP chairman Syed Abdul Jabbar Sohel sources said.
