Humaira Azam has been appointed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Trust Bank Limited. She is the first female managing director and banker in country’s commercial banking industry. Prior, she has served Trust Bank as Additional Managing Director & Chief Risk Officer since 2018, said a press release.
After completing Honors and Masters in International Relations from the Dhaka University, she started her career with ANZ Grindlays Bank as a management trainee in 1990. She contributed to the local corporate’s development in Bangladesh during the early 90’s in ANZ Grindlays Bank. Later she joined HSBC since its inception and laid a very strong framework for corporate/ OBU, custodian, and institutional banking. She was instrumental in recovery of non-performing loan (NPL) portfolio of Standard Chartered Bank in Bangladesh successfully and broadened the role of Financial Institution. She was the first female member of the Country Management Committee (MANCO) of Standard Chartered Bank. In 2009, she joined IPDC Finance Limited as Managing Director & CEO and played a pivital role in turning around the NBFI fromdire straits. Ms. Humaira later worked at Bank Asia from 2012- 2018 as DMD & CRO. She afterwards joined Trust Bank in 2018 as Additional Managing Director & Chief Risk Officer and looked after strategy, policy roll out, risk and overall business.
 As the CAMLCO of the Bank, she monitored the performances of 114 branches regarding implementation and compliance with AML & CFT rules.
During her extensive career, Ms. Humaira has attended a good number of professional trainings, development programmes, workshops and seminars both at home & abroad.She has been ranked in the 300 most influential women in Islamic business and finance by Cambridge IFA in 2021. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bangladesh has presented Mrs. Humaira with the ‘Woman of Inspiration Award 2020’ for her outstanding contribution in financial sector of Bangladesh.
