Huge success has already been achieved in ensuring female education, safe maternity, maternal and neonatal health services, birth registration, sanitation and eradication of social curses for development of women and children.
The opinion came at an orientation workshop organised by District Information Office under the fourth-phase of the Maas Communication Programme for Development of Children & Women Project at Gangachara upazila parishad auditorium on Thursday.
Deputy Director (Local Government) for Rangpur Sultana Parveen attended and addressed the workshop as the chief guest with Senior District Information Officer (DIO) Humayun Kabir in the chair.
Acting Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rashedul Haque, Sadar Union Chairman Motiar Rahman, Upazila Health & Family Planning Officer Dr Abu M Zakirul Islam and Headmaster of Gangachara Model High School Akher Mian addressed as special guests.
Dr Abu M Zakirul Islam, Rashedul Haque and Humayun Kabir presented keynote papers on “Maternal and Child Health Care & Safe Maternity”, “Prevention of Dowry & Child Marriage” and “Sanitation, Environment & Birth Registration” respectively.
The local leading personalities, officials, public representatives, teachers, religious leaders, community leaders, civil society members, journalists, professionals and elite participated in the day-long workshop.
The resource persons discussed about maternal and child health care, safe pregnancy and maternity, dowry, child marriage, sanitation, environment, birth registration, breast feeding, vaccination of babies, hygiene of adolescents, sexual harassment, women empowerment, safe drinking water, food adulteration, drug abuse and other issues.
