In the biggest gold haul in recent times, Customs officials seized 905 gold bars, weighing 105 kg, from a Biman flight from Dubai and detained seven passengers at Shah Amanat International Airport here on Tuesday. The detained passengers could not be identified yet. Tipped-off, the customs officials searched the BG026 flight of Bangladesh Biman from Dubai and recovered the gold worth 45.50 crore from several bags kept beneath the seats of the seven passengers, said Moshiur Rahman Mandal, Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Airport Customs Authority. Parvez Al-Zaman, Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Airport Customs Authority, said today’s gold seizure was the biggest in recent times.
