Senior Secretary of Public Administration Ministry Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury on Wednesday said that the government would investigate as to how did the five top government officials manage the freedom fighter certificates.
The ministry received a letter from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday with recommendation to revoke freedom fighter (FF) certificates of five senior government officials and to take departmental action against them, he added.
The ACC sent the letter on Monday.
In response to a query about action, he said that he was not in a position to make comment on the issue then, as it was an official matter. He assured that the ministry would take action on the basis of the law.
The officials are Health Secretary Niaz Uddin Mia, former Liberation War Affairs Secretary K H Masud Siddiqui, its Joint Secretary Abul Quasem Talukdar, Science and Technology Secretary AKM Amir Hossain and former Secretary to PMO Molla Waheeduzzaman, now Chairman of Privatization Commission.
In January 2014, the ACC launched the probe against six top officials. ACC Deputy Director Zulfiker Ali recently submitted the probe report to the Commission.
