Housing and Public Works Ministry has mapped out a special endeavour to ensure smooth services through strengthening the citizen services and stop harassment of clients marking the ‘Mujib Year’.
The ministry has taken a series of programmes, including holding rallies, discussions, doa and milad mahfils, organizing voluntary blood donation programmes, building memorial monument and Bangabandhu Chattar at Purbachal New Town and illuminating buildings, marking the celebration of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from March 17, 2020 to March 26, 2021.
The information was revealed on Thursday at the 10th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Housing and Public Works at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee Chairman Engineer Mosharraf Hossain in the chair, said a press release.
Committee members- State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed, Narayon Chandra Chanda, Syeda Zohora Alauddin, Md Monowar Hossain Chowdhury and Farida Khanam attended the meeting.
The parliamentary watchdog recommended the ministry for allocating readymade flats instead of allocating plots (land to selected citizens).
The committee also suggested taking necessary measures for completing the work of constructing underground electric cabling within the quickest possible time as per the PPP at the Purbachal New Town project.
It also recommended making mandatory of ensuring STP and rainwater harvesting facilities at every residential building built with the government fund.
The committee also held detailed discussions on different ongoing projects of different development authorities under the Housing and Public Works Ministry.
Senior officials of the ministry and Parliament Secretariat were present at the meeting.
