A housewife was allegedly tortured to death at her in-laws’ house at Eochia in Satkania upazila on Friday night over dowry.
The deceased was identified as Rokeya Begum, 22, wife of Parvej of Churamoni village.
Md Rafiqul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Satkania Police Station, said being informed by locals they recovered the body of Rokeya from the house at night. The body bore several injury marks on its’ neck.
Besides, Rokeya’s husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law went into hiding after the incident.
Rokeya’s family members alleged that she was strangulated to death over dowry.
Victim’s brother Md Mohiuddin filed a murder case.
Mohiuddin, said the family members of Solaiman used to torture her sister for dowry since their marriage three months back.
