Housewife tortured to death in C’Bazar

A housewife was tortured to death allegedly by family members of her in-law’s house on Monday morning at Rajarkul Panjegana area in Ramu upazila of the district.
The deceased was identified as Ireen Soltana Nayan, 22, wife of Mir Kashem of the said area.
Brother of the victim Mizanur Rahman said Ireen Soltana Nayan, daughter of Kalim Ullah of SM Para in Cox’s Bazar town, was married to Mir Kashem of Rajarkul Panjegana area in Ramu upazila of the district four years back.
 They have a three year old son Imtiaz Uddin. One month ago, the husband of Ireen went to Malaysia. From then, family members of her in-law’s house used to torture her for money very often. On that day, she was also tortured seriously.
On information, neighbours took her to Ramu Hospital, but doctor on-duty declared her dead. Later, the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model police station Motiul Islam said police are investigating this incident.
