A newly married housewife was killed allegedly by her husband at Janglebadhal village under sadar upazila of the district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mamtaz Begum , 22, wife of Sujon Ali of the upazila.
Elias Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jessore Kotwali Model Thana, confirmed the incident.
Police said, Mamtaz, daughter of Abdul Majid of Tarabari village in Chaugacha upazila of Jessore district got married Sujon Ali, son of Milon Ali of Janglebadhal village two week ago.
On information, police recovered the body from the spot last night and sent it to Jessore 250-bed hospital for postmortem.
Police also seized a sharp weapon from the spot.
Momtaz’s husband Sujon, his father Milon and mother Amena fled away from the house after the incident.
A case was recorded with Jessore Kotwali Model Thana in this connection.
