Staff Reporter :
A housewife was slaughtered to death by miscreants with the help of her husband in a launch cabin on the Dhaka-Barisal launch route on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Mila Begum, 18, wife of Anis Patwari, said Shah Md Awlad Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barisal Kotwali Police Station.
Police recovered the body of Mila from a staff cabin of the launch – Parabat- 10 — early Tuesday, the OC said.
The law enforcers have detained three persons in this connection. They are
Victim’s husband Anis Patwari, 18, from Shariatpur and his cousin Kalam Patwari, 25, and his cohort Tushar, 20, from Naogaon.
The OC said, “Anis and Mila boarded a cabin of the launch to go to Barisal from Dhaka’s Sadarghat. At one stage, Anis went out of the cabin, while Kamal and Tushar entered the cabin and slaughtered Mila with a sword around 2:30pm.”
Many passengers went into the cabin by hearing the screaming of Mila and caught the two killers, the police official said.
They also detained Anis from the roof-top of the four-storied launch and handed him to the police, the OC said.
On July 9, Mila and Anis were introduced to each other over mobile phone. Then Mila introduced herself as a garment worker. At one stage Mila compelled Anis to marry her. But after the marriage Anis came to know that Mila was a professional sex worker instead of a garment job holder.
He discussed the matter with Kamal and planned to kill Mila in a launch by thinking safe place of murder. Anis also paid Tk 1,10,000 to Kamal and his cohort to kill Mila.
As part of the killing mission, they boarded the launch in the name of visiting Kuakata in Patuakhali district.
