The body of a mother of three children was found at a house at Chakpara village of Poradah union under Mirpurupazila in the district. The deceased was identified as Sahara Khatun, 55 Police recovered slaughtered body from the toilet at about12:00 and sent the body to Kushtia Hospital morgue for autopsy. The officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Police StationRafiqul Islam said, the victim was mentally ill, but she was initially believed to be killed due to family feud. Locals said, the husband of slain ShaharaKhatun,Umat Ali has been suffering in a disease of incurable for a long.
Woman killed in Sylhet road accident

A woman was killed after a microbus hit her on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at Osmani Nagar upazila in Sylhet on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Sakirun Begum, 44, wife of Mostafa Mia of Choraun Khushalpur village in Moulvibazar.The incident took place at about 4:00 pm at Ilashpur area on the highway.
Sakirun Begum was crossing the road. At the time, a speedy microbus hit her, leaving her dead on the spot.The locals caught the microbus driver Ibrahim and the killer vehicle.
Uplift projects inaugurated in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ: A number of uplift projects was inaugurated here on Monday. Law maker of Chapainawabganj sadar constituency Md. Abdul Wadud inaugurated projects as chief guest. The projects included construction of the academic buildings of Model Government Primary School, Chowhodditola Government Primary School, Ganka Government Primary School, boundary walls of three primary schools, a 121- metre long culvert at Brahmandanga, 875-metre long road from Nayagola Satnoil to Uttarbhabanipur Mohadanga, 475-metre long road at Nayagola, 623-metre long road at Alinagar Bhutpukur and 705-metre long road at Shehala Baganpara all under Chapainawabganj municipality.The projects are being implemented under the supervision of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), reports BSS.
Construction of 2-km drain begins in Rangpur
RANGPUR:Construction works of a two-kilometre long drainage system from Lalbag Rail Gate to Tazhat Ashratpur areas under Ward No-28 at the cost of Taka 5.23 crore has begun in the city. Mayor of Rangpur Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu launched construction of the drainage system by unveiling plaque in a ceremony at Sultan Nagar area by the side of the drain today afternoon as the chief guest. Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) has been implementing construction works of the drainage system under the Municipal Governance and Services Project (MGSP) with financial assistance of the Government of Bangladesh. Mayor Jhantu directed all concerned for timely completion of construction works of the drainage system and cautioned for taking stern actions if any irregularities were found while conducting the infrastructural development works, reports BSS.
