The house of BNP-backed mayoral candidate Moniruzzaman Kabir in Borhanuddin municipality of the district was allegedly vandalised by miscreants on Thursday night.
At least two people were reportedly injured during the attack. Mayoral candidate Maniruzzaman Kabir came up with the allegation
on Friday morning at a press conference at his house. Kabir said a group of miscreants went to his house around 11:30pm.
The mayoral candidate and his family members were staying at the house at that time.
The hoodlums vandalized the windows and lights with rods and machetes, he said adding that a piece of broken glass of a window hit one of the eyes of his wife Ayesha Siddiqua, leaving her injured.
His daughter Nusrat Jahan also received injuries during the incident.
Sub-inspector Rafiq of Borhanuddin Police Station said police went to the spot after the incident and found three windows broken. However, no case was filed in this connection, he added.
