A dwelling house of village Rajapur within Saitgumbaz Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district was gutted completely with all its belongings when it caught fire in the early hours of March 4, according to a delayed report received here.
It is learnt from Kazi Abu Taher, the owner of the gutted house that his wife Khaleda Begum was seriously burnt and admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital where she has been undergoing treatment.
In the early hours of the day the fire originated from electricity short circuit in the house engulfed it (dwelling house) within a short time. As a result, house with its all belongings including freeze, TV, water pump, gas cylinder, steel almirahs and valuable papers and documents were destroyed by fire. The loss of fire is several lakhs, according to a primary estimation. The members of the fire affected family were rendered completely homeless and became destitute.
On Information Sardar Nasir Uddin, Chairman of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Parishad, Md. Mosabbarul Islam, UNO of the Upazila and Basir Udiin Baschu, concerned UP Chairman visited the place. A sum of tk.7 thousand was donated to the fire affected family from the Upazila administration.
