Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu observed in Sylhet

The Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation and Architect of Independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was celebrated with day-long programmes and paying due homage to Bangabandhu here today.
Sylhet district and city units of Awami League (AL) and its associated bodies chalked out programmes in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in celebration of the historical day of BangabandhuÕs return to independent Bangladesh.
Besides, leaders of the district units of Swechchasebak League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, Krishak League, Sramik League and other associate bodies celebrated the day in a befitting manner.
The programmes included hoisting of the national and party flags atop party offices, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu and rallies followed by placing wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu, doa mahfil and discussions.
Hundreds of leaders and workers of district and city units of AL and its associate bodies participated in separate rallies that paraded the city streets from their respective offices to the mural of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Square.
President of district AL Adv Lutfur Rahman, General Secretary Adv Nasir Uddin Khan, President of city AL FF Mashuk Uddin Ahmed and its General Secretary Zakir Hussain with other leaders placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu there.
President of district AL Adv Lutfur Rahman presided over the main discussion moderated by its General Secretary Adv Nasir Uddin Khan at Sylhet Zilla Parishad Hall room of the city.
Shafikur Rahman Chowdhury, Sujat Ali Rafik, Nizam Uddin, Shad Uddin Ahmed, Adv Shah Moshahid Ali, Moshaid Islam Kamal, Mohammed Ali Dulal, Kabir Uddin Ahmed, Adv Ranjit Sarkar, Adv Ajmol ALi, Hazi Faruk Ahmed, Hazi Rais Ali and AHM Firuz Al, among others, spoke.
The speakers said the party leaders and workers should work unitedly to realise the dream of Bangabandhu through building a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ to make independence meaningful for common people.
Lutfur Rahman called upon the party leaders and workers to follow the ideals of Bangabandhu and work selflessly to ultimately build a developed country by 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to pay appropriate respect to Bangabandhu.
