Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan may go to Myanmar on October 23 on a three-day visit to discuss about Rohingya repatriation.
But his visit to violence-torn Rakhine State, wherefrom half a million Rohingyas have been forcibly sent to Bangladesh so far, seems uncertain.
“Our main agenda in the discussions will be repatriation of the Rohingyas, who have entered Bangladesh,
and stopping of such recurrence in future,” said the Home Minister in his office on Thursday afternoon.
Besides the Rohingya crisis, he will discuss four bilateral issues fixed earlier, said the Minister to the reporters about the date of the visit.
Two secretaries of the Home Ministry, Police IG, DG of Border Guard Bangladesh, Chiefs of Coastguard and Department of Narcotics Control, among others, will accompany the Home Minister during the visit.
However, Myanmar government has not yet agreed to the journalists’ inclusion in the tour team.
According to UNHCR, 5, 20,000 Rohingya entered Bangladesh since August 25, to escape the inhuman torture in Myanmar.
On October 3, Myanmar agreed to repatriate the Rohingya following a meeting between their Minister Kyaw Tint Swe with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood.
