Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has sought some more time in order to find out the whereabouts of those who went missing.
Rejecting the charge that the law enforcement agencies’ could not trace the whereabouts of the ‘abducted’ persons, he said, “We need some more time. The missing persons will be discovered.”
Asaduzzaman Khan said this at a programme at Mirpur Police Staff College on Sunday marking the founding anniversary of River Police. The comment was made at a time when Dhaka University teachers and students were holding programme demanding steps to trace university teacher Mubashar Hasan.
“We think that we will be able to rescue them at any moment,” the home minister said while replying to a reporter’s query on the missing people including North South University teacher Mubashar Hasan and journalist Utpal Das.
The minister said, law enforcing agencies are investigating the reason behind the missing of people, he added.
Mubashar is among a host of individuals becoming victims of either abduction or enforced disappearance in recent months. At least nine people, including journalist Utpal Das, book importer Tanvir Yasin Karim, businessman Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and some political leaders, had gone missing since August 22.
