Holy Shab-e-Barat observed

The holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune and forgiveness, was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district (Thursday night) with due religious fervour.
 According to Muslim belief, Shab-e-Barat is the night when Allah arranges the affairs of the following year. On this night, Allah writes the destinies of all the creations for the coming year by taking into account their past deeds.
Thousands of Muslim devotees were offering special prayers, reciting from the Holy Quran, holding milad, zikr and other religious rituals seeking divine blessings for the wellbeing of mankind. They will pass the whole night offering special prayers.
 Many Muslims are also visiting the graveyards of their relatives and Muslim saints and distributing sweetmeats and homemade foods among the poor, their neighbours, friends and relatives.

Bagerhat Correspondent adds: The holy Shab-e-Barat known as the night of fortune was observed in Bagerhat district town and its all the nine Upazilas as else where of the country on Thursday night with due religious fervour and devotion.
The Muslim devotees spent the night at mosques and homes offering prayers, reciting from the holy Quran and seeking blessings to Allah for long life, peace, progress and happiness for themselves, their families, relatives and friends as well as the nation and Muslim Ummah.
Muslims consider Shab-e-Barat as one of the three most sacred nights and believe that on this night Almighty Allah decides the fate of the human beings fixing their ‘riziq’ (livelihood) for the next year. Many devotees visited graves and prayed for the peace of the souls of their beloved ones who are no more. A large number of devotees visited the holy shrines of the great saint Hazrat Peer Khaja Khanjahan (peace be on him) at Khan Jahan, 5 kilometers away from here and offered Fateha. Traditional foods like handmade rice-bread with beef and halua were distributed among the neighbours, relatives and the poor in the evening. Many Muslims observed fast on the following day.
